Empowering Secular Homeschooling Families: The ENRICHri Journey

ENRICHri was founded in 2009 by 10 homeschooling families in Rhode Island who gathered weekly for support and fun. By 2010, the group was quickly expanding and saw that there was a growing desire for the secular homeschool community to come together.

The following years brought rapid growth and a more formal structure, along with an Executive Board. The Board worked to create a vision and mission statement, policies, and bylaws and started meeting monthly to organize and develop programming. Today, with a strong foundation in place, our group continues to thrive with parent support groups, seminars, and connections in the community.

ENRICHri is financially supported through its yearly membership fees, cooperative programs and donations. These cover a variety of expenses such as insurance, building rentals, administrative costs, technology costs, special events and annual state filings.

Our Mission

ENRICHri is an inclusive, non-religious community that provides support, friendship, and guidance for homeschooling families in Southern New England and promotes homeschooling within the greater community.

Our Vision

We will promote the development of a supportive network for parents and children, provide opportunities for relevant, affordable, real-world, and group homeschool learning. We will advocate for our members and others in the community.

Non-Discrimination Policy

ENRICHri is an inclusive group and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, citizenship, status as a disabled veteran, or past or present honorable military services and/or other challenges or home education philosophy or methodology in any manner and with respect to access to, or the provision of, its educational services, programs, and activities.

Anti-Racism & Homeschooling

ENRICHri stands in solidarity with the fight against systemic racism.

ENRICHri is built on the foundation that we do not discriminate based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, faith, home education philosophy or methodology, or physical or other challenges. We also recognize that a mission statement isn’t enough. It must be borne out by our actions and policies.

We are aware now, more than ever, what an important role our members have taken on. As homeschoolers we are raising and educating the next generation and, along with them, ourselves. As your leaders and fellow community members we are committed to listening, to taking time to understand, to stand together to protect and support all members of our community, and to improve our community, our families, and ourselves.

We are inspired by the diverse, brave and helpful voices among us. Our community members who share opportunities to learn, grow, and take action. Those that share resources for engagement and education about the fight against systemic racism and the historic oppression of the Black community. And those who stand in solidarity and support. We will work to amplify those voices and provide a safe place for discussion and growth.
